Work, Health & Safety

Our Policy

At BSM Industries our commitment to health and safety is based on the belief the wellbeing of our workers, including those workers placed with host employers, is of the utmost importance and must take precedence in the planning and execution of all work activities.

This philosophy extends beyond legislative compliance and supports BSM’s commitment to achieve workplace health and safety (WHS) by ensuring, as far as is reasonably practicable, that safe work practices will be incorporated into all aspects of work undertaken at our workplaces and at workplaces where we have placed our workers.

BSM is committed to achieving and maintaining this standard by;

  • Complying with relevant State and Federal legislation, codes of practices and industry standards as they apply to our workplaces.
  • Implementing a risk management process to adequately identify and control foreseeable hazards and risks in our workplaces.
  • Providing and maintaining, as far as is reasonably practicable, a workplace that is safe and without risks to health and safety.
  • Providing relevant, appropriate and timely information, instruction, training, supervision and support to enable our workers to perform their duties without risk of harm or injury to themselves or others.
  • Establishing and implementing agreed processes to consult, cooperate and coordinate with workers and other relevant parties, on matters relating to health and safety in our workplaces.
  • Reporting and investigating all accidents and safety related incidents and hazards in a timely manner and developing and implementing, as far as is reasonably practicable appropriate corrective actions when required.
  • Regularly reviewing and improving our WHS practices in line with business, operational, legislative and other requirements as they apply.

BSM will work with host employers to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that host workplaces, including plant, equipment, structures, fixtures, fittings and substances to which our workers may be exposed are safe and without risk to health and safety.

BSM managers and supervisors are responsible for ensuring host employers comply with our terms and conditions regarding the safety of BSM workers whilst on a host site.

BSM will not place any worker with an employer who cannot demonstrate they have adequate arrangements in place to ensure the worker’s safety and demonstrate compliance with all regulatory requirements as they apply to the workplace and the work the BSW worker will do, or is likely to do.

BSM workers are required to demonstrate equal commitment to health and safety and to take reasonable care for themselves and others at a workplace and to ensure their actions do not adversely affect other persons at the workplace.
